Dr. Wang is investigating the role of viral cyclin-dependent kinase mimicry in HCMV replication by characterizing the replication defective phenotypes of HCMV infections lacking UL97 kinase activity. His goal is to correlate UL97 deficient phenotypes with defects in viral gene expression, viral manipulation of cell cycle control proteins, viral DNA synthesis, and viral nuclear egress.
