The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) genome circularizes through its terminal repeats (TR) upon entering the cell. TR number varies naturally within a population of infected cells. There is an inverse relationship between TR number and expression of the oncoprotein LMP1. The goal of the project is to understand the mechanism of how TR number controls LMP1 expression focusing on the role of chromatin.
