Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are significant pathogens whereupon high-risk types induce hyperproliferative lesions of infected tissue that can progress to malignant tumors. Upon infection, HPV viral DNA, along with the minor capsid protein L2, is delivered to PML nuclear bodies. Lucile is investigating the relationship between HPV type 16 L2 protein and PML proteins as a requirement for infection.
