Dr. Keiffer is currently investigating the trafficking of the human papillomavirus (HPV) genome to the nucleus during infection. One of the hypotheses of the Sapp lab is that the HPV genome is protected from detection by cellular foreign DNA sensors by a vesicular structure during genome entry into the nucleus. His focus is the isolation and identification of this hypothesized structure. |
