The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination is required for admission to the School of Graduate Studies of foreign students whose nature language is not English and who have not graduated from a university in the United States. The amount of reading and scientific writing required of students in the doctoral program is quite considerable. The student should inform the Educational Testing Service to have his/her TOEFL score mailed to the School of Graduate Studies, LSU Health Sciences Center, 1501 Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA 71130. Documents of personal financial responsibility are also required of all foreign students before a student visa application can be filed with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. This process requires a minimum of three months and can be initiated only after acceptance into the graduate program. Documents of financial responsibility must be filed with the application to the School of Graduate Studies.
